This is actually one of the first Gruelgo gags I wrote, even before I came up with Diabro and Lamar! I have a text file with a bunch of potential gags in it, most of which prove unusable once the novelty of creation wears off.

When I was a kid I had an old walkie-talkie that was mostly a prop for making believe I was John McClane. (I only had one because you only need two if you have a friend!) Occasionally I would pick up transmissions while roaming the neighborhood as cordless phones in the 90s were about as secure as the intercom at Walmart. One day I heard a baby crying over the air and, assuming I was listening to a baby monitor, I tried to convince the parents that their precious little one had developed speech, much in the manner depicted above.
Yippee ki yay.

This one was colored by my girlfriend, Starla! Pretty groovy, huh? (This may be the first project we’ve ever worked on in which we didn’t try to murder each other by the end!)
Here are some bands you could listen to while reading Gruelgo comics: Ramones, Snakefinger, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Screamin’ Lord Sutch, The Cramps, and The Damned. Surf music, 50s/60s oldies, and their punk covers work well, too!

Listen up, bumpkins: this is what we sophisticated people call “multimedia!” Multimedia is all the rage, but you were probably too busy listening to Bing Crosby on your Victrola to notice! And in case you’re wondering about my eye injury, I made a full recovery in a matter of weeks!
Gruelgo.com is one year old now. This time last year I spent several long days and nights working on starter content and clicked the LAUNCH button during what sounded like a never-ending gunfight in my neighborhood. I hoped the comic book version of Gruelgo would be out by now, but I’ve learned something about making comic books: it’s, like, kind of hard.
Below is a pinup I drew for Instagram when I crossed the 300-follower mark. I’m almost at 400 now. So yeah, I’m not winning influencer-of-the-year, but I can honestly say I’m tickled pink that so many people are reading (and hopefully enjoying) Gruelgo.

Here’s the cover for “The Call of Time,” Gruelgo’s first comic book! Coming soon!

It’s the other major crossover event of the year!

Here’s a pixel doodle I did while taking a break from the upcoming comic book! There’ll be a proper gag this Wednesday!
Speaking of the upcoming comic book, I’ve been posting behind-the-scene stuff on Twitter, so follow me there to get updates on how that’s going!

I never appreciated the ease at which I came up with titles for these things until now… I was totally stumped on what to call this one and, I admit, “Ax in the Box” is pretty lame. It’s like, instead of a jack in the box, it’s… an axe… in the box. Bloody brilliant.
Oh well! Beggars can’t be choosers! See you next week, suckers!
